The NASA STEP Testbed

• STEP is ISO 10303, the  STandard for the Exchange of Product model data.  Its contents are a set of information models ( Application Protocols ) that enable the exchange of CAD models between different engineering tools. The STEP information models also provide the foundation for integrating diverse engineering discipline models into a complete systems model of a product.
• The NASA STEP Testbed is defining and implementing a STEP-based software infrastructure to capture and integrate all CAX (CAD/CAM/CAE) models of a product into a multi-disciplinary master model. A key element of this infrastructure is a repository that will support the full product lifecycle from concept through analysis, design, manufacture, and maintenance.
